What Business Leaders Are Concerned About Now?
Business leaders are managing several connected challenges: cyber threats, economic uncertainty, geopolitical instability and rapid technological change.
PwC’s 2026 Global CEO Survey found that 31% of CEOs believe their organisations are highly or extremely exposed to significant financial loss from cyber threats. In response to geopolitical risk, 84% plan to strengthen cybersecurity practices across their organisations. Technology disruption also remains a significant concern.
At the same time, discussions about AI must move beyond whether employees are using tools such as ChatGPT.
Leaders now need to consider:
1. Is AI investment creating measurable business value?
2. Is company data accurate, organized and properly governed?
3. Can AI-generated results be trusted in critical business processes?
4. Which decisions still require human review?
5. Who is accountable when AI contributes to a mistake?
6. Can essential operations continue if an AI service becomes unavailable?
Recent reporting from Reuters highlights similar concerns. AI may offer significant opportunities, but using it in finance, supply chains and other critical processes requires reliable information, appropriate controls and clear accountability.
Current developments should therefore not be repeated as news alone. They should be translated into a practical leadership question:
What does this development mean for board members, CEOs, founders, CIOs, CFOs and governance leaders and what should they consider doing next?
